Based in Ventura, California, the Ventura County Fusion is a successful world-class, championship-caliber soccer franchise and participant in the Western Conference’s Southwest Division of the Premier Development League (PDL), an official operation of United Soccer Leagues (USL). Now in its sixth year of operation, the team completed its 2011 season with a second-place finish in the Southwest Division and earned its third consecutive playoff berth. About the USL Premier Development League (PDL)
The Ventura County Fusion is an established franchise within the Premier Development League (PDL), an official operation of United Soccer Leagues (USL). The top under-23 men’s league in North America, the PDL features 68 teams organized into four regional conferences, each with two divisions, across the United States and Canada. The league’s regular season consists of 16 divisional games, eight home and eight away, followed by playoffs and a championship title game. The PDL provides elite amateur and collegiate players with opportunities to taste higher-level of competition while maintaining their eligibility. In addition to league play, PDL teams also compete in the prestigious Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, and play various exhibition matches against domestic and international professional clubs.
